Iofina Reports Record H1 Iodine Production and Nears IO11 Launch
Iofina plc, a specialist in iodine production and specialty chemicals, has announced a record-breaking performance for the first half of 2025, producing 305.5 metric tonnes (MT) of crystalline iodine — a 10.6% increase from H1 2024 and exceeding its revised guidance of around 300 MT.
The company also confirmed that its newest plant, IO#11, located in central Oklahoma, is in the final stages of hydro-testing and is expected to begin production later this month. Once operational, IO#11 is projected to contribute around 100 MT annually, significantly boosting output in H2 2025.
Looking ahead, Iofina anticipates total H2 production across its eight Oklahoma-based IOsorb® plants to reach 400–440 MT, pending IO#11’s ramp-up. Plans are also advancing for a ninth plant, IO#12, with groundwork expected to begin by year-end.
Iofina continues to see strong market demand and stable iodine prices, currently above $70/kg, with sales in line with board expectations.
Commenting, President and CEO, Dr. Tom Becker, stated:
“After experiencing some initial production challenges in the first quarter of the year, our team has successfully worked with our brine supply partners to improve water flows to the plants, culminating in a record H1 production of 305.5MT. We are also pleased to have completed IO#11 on time and on budget, and with production at the new plant expected to ramp up during Q3 2025, we now anticipate producing 400-440 MT of crystalline iodine during the second half of 2025. The execution of our growth strategy, combined with a healthy iodine market, will result in 2025 seeing further records for the Group.”
