B.P. Marsh & Partners, the AIM-quoted venture capital investor in early-stage financial services businesses, has stepped up portfolio activity with a mix of fresh investments and a partial exit, underlining its model of backing early-stage financial businesses while recycling capital. The group has taken minority stakes in two start-ups, including a 25% holding in energy-focused broker Ventura Risk Partners alongside a £2m loan, and a 30% interest in newly launched advisory firm Nine Edge Wealth, supported by a £5m facility to fund expansion. Both deals reflect a focus on backing experienced founders in niche segments, from specialist Lloyd’s market placements to wealth management platforms with acquisition-led growth ambitions.

At the same time, B.P. Marsh has realised value from its existing portfolio, agreeing the sale of its stake in underwriting agency Amiga as part of a £1.8m acquisition by Sodalis, another investee company. The transaction delivers cash proceeds and loan repayment while retaining indirect exposure through a continued holding in Sodalis, illustrating the group’s flexible approach to exits.

Taken together, the updates highlight a steady churn of capital across the portfolio, with new investments targeting growth opportunities created by consolidation in insurance and advice markets, while selective disposals lock in gains and support future deployment.
