Alongside renewable generation, energy storage has moved from being a marginal technology to a core part of the system. The UK has gone from having almost no battery storage to supporting hundreds of projects nationwide, providing the flexibility needed to balance intermittent renewable supply with real time demand. This infrastructure is now critical to maintaining grid stability as renewable penetration continues to increase.
