Kodal Minerals plc (AIM: KOD) has reached a critical milestone after obtaining an export permit for spodumene concentrate from its Bougouni Lithium Project in southern Mali. The permit, signed by Mali’s Minister of Mines, Amadou Keïta, authorises an initial export volume of 125,000 tonnes, subject to the completion of final administrative formalities.

The permit also confirms that pricing will reference the Shanghai Metals Market benchmark for spodumene, and mandates local‑content requirements, including awarding the haulage contract to Malian transport firms under relevant legislation.

Bernard Aylward, CEO of Kodal Minerals, described the approval as “a critical step” in moving Bougouni toward commercial production, underlining the strong backing of the Malian government and the Ministry of Mines.

With the permit in hand, the company is poised to mobilise its trucking fleet immediately and begin shipping once the remaining administrative steps are finalised.
