FTSE 250 JLEN, the environmental infrastructure fund, has acquired Gigabox South Road Limited which owns the development rights to construct the West Gourdie project, a 50MW lithium-ion battery energy storage plant based in Dundee. JLEN will invest <£21.2m over the next 12-15 months. The facility, which is fully consented and construction ready, is due to  start commercial operations in March 2022.

This acquisition represents JLEN’s third investment into battery storage systems, though is JLEN’s first grid-scale batter project.
